Adding a Patron/Institution

Q: What two forms of patrons can I add?

A: Patron or Institutional forms are available. Use the Patron Form to add an individual. For other libraries or organizations use the Institutional Form.

Q: Why do I get an error message when adding a patron/institution?

A: Every field with an asterisk must be filled out, or you will get an error, and the record will not be added to the database. The required fields are: Last Name, First Name, Mailing List, Mailing Address (City/State).

Q: How do I enter a patron/institution?

A: Fill in the appropriate information in the provided boxes in the form. Every field with an asterisk must be filled out, or you will get an error, and the record will not be added to the database. Q: After I confirm the patron/institution all I get is comas, why?

A: If you accidentally have two patrons with the same card number, the second duplicate will show up as just commas after you confirm the record.

Q: How do I edit a completed patron/institutions record?

A: You can always come back and edit what you enter in the “Add Patron” screen by searching for the borrower by using their last name or card number, selecting a user by clicking on the entry in the search list, and then clicking the “Modify” button on the patron information screen.

Q: Defining the two user defined fields?

A: WARNING: This task should be only be done by the authorized system administrator. Unauthorized changes can result in corrupt data! The two user defined fields, Sorting Fields 1 and 2 are configurable. Configuring these field is done by clicking on “Parameters”, then selecting “Authorized Values”, then selecting “Add Authorised Value”. To finish define “Bsort1” or “Bsort2” (following the instructions in the in the”Authorised Values Administration” page).
