A: Before issuing a new card to a borrower it is good practice to first search the database for an existing card.
A: There are two ways to search for a patron. The first way is to simply type in a patrons name, it can even be a partial name, and then hit the “Search” button. The second method is to browse through the borrowers. Click on the letter corresponding to the first letter of the borrowers last name.
A: You can sort results by either last name or by barcode. Search order is controlled by the dialog box next to the “search box”. Click on the arrow to change the preference.
If there is already a borrower matching the name you searched, it will show after you click OK. This can be particularly useful when people have lost their cards or when children forget their cards. That way, you can avoid having multiple numbers for the same patron.
