Q: What is Quick Search?

A: Search for materials by any word or individual fields. Simply enter data into the appropriate field(s). Branch and Item types will limit search results. When search data is entered hit “enter” on your keyboard or the “Start search” button on the page.

Q: What is MARC and MARC Search?

A: MARC search allows you to search for an item using any MAchine Readable Catalog (MARC) field.

Q: How do I use a wildcard?

A: Wildcards can be used in any field by typing at least three letters and an asterisk “*”.

Q: How do I search for a MARC Field?

A: Select a field from the ordered list. Place your information in the last field. Use the additional fields to further refine your search by using Boolean style exclusions. When ready to search hit enter or the “start search” button.

Q: What is more fields?

A: More fields box let you enter Boolean search terms. The terms : and, or, exclusions (not), can be searched on any MARC field/subfield

Q: Can I order my results?

A: Results can be limited by total number, ordered (title, author, call number, year published, publisher) and either in ascending or descending order, using the dialog boxes at the bottom of the page.

INFORMATION: WILDCARDS "*".

The “*” wildcard is only valid if you enter 3 letters or more, less than three letters all wildcards are ignored.

TIPS: BOOLEAN SEARCHING.

Boolean searching is a method to limit search results by using three common operators: and, or, not. Though difficult to master Boolean results can give you very specific search results.
