The below has all been wildly superceded … Please see the NewKohaRoadmap instead. -pate

Feature Plan thoughts

  1. 1.2 → 1.1.x Stable versions of “current” Koha

* no new features * Roger/Pat/Chris responsible for minor maintenance issues. * Nit picking list on ToDo page

We Are Here (or at least, Katipo is here :) ) «<
-2.3 Goals
* Opac fully HTML::Templated
* Authentication on the OPAC allowing public access to their records, and the ability to place reserves

Steve has developed an authentication module that might also go out in the 1.2 series at some point, or this might wait for 1.4

  1. 2. Release with Katipo Additions, most recent [stable]

* Templating

 Question to be answered: Is below needed?:

* Branch transfers and tidying up web circulation (Finlay@katipo - currently being tested due for install on site May/June) * Bug fixed to Reserves (Finlay according to Rachel) * Circulation module (Chris) * Customisable opac (so librarians can choose what to display to the public easily, and what fields are on the advanced search page - (Rachel: I thought this both intranet and OPAC) [richard@katipo] Any more information available about this? Can I be of any help? (Rog) - (Rachel: Is in test install with Philanthropy Australia who sponsored the development) * Add websites, as both an item type, and as a biblio [gynn@katipo], (Rachel: Is in test install with Philanthropy Australia who sponsored the development), and abstract On much of Katipo stuff, check with Jeremy.

Up in the air: * installer + packaging [Mike on Install.pl, ? on packaging] As yet unassigned: Member setup changes requested by Katipan client… Could this be a meeting discussion – there was some interest from the list about LDAP, and a few Katipans have mentioned multiple password stores (Nick got deeply confused at points on this). Also, I think there is a fair pile of existing modules out there for LDAP in Perl, and LDAP is designed to handle names/addresses/passwords etc which would eliminate the tables on this stuff in the DB, leaving only reserve and reading lists. This is up-in-air for next version as well?

X.X.X [devel] version Currently Started IN CVS or Someone's Koha Code: * shelf list [requested by: Tim Butler; will be done by:Steve, maybe, who has something close] Unknown status: * 'Dewey labels [rqst by: HLT, Tim Butler; wbdb: Katipo] (Rachel: This is sponsored by HLT, and dev is scheduled for May/June - so should it be in it's own version? - don't know tim butler does he want/need to see the spec?)-- warning, this may be highly printer specific. * MARC database changes [Paul and Steve] "MARC invisible" - see below in 1.3.5 can this be "lossless" MARC db format? * transition tools as needed Up in the air? .... * ethnicity question [this seems to be a deal breaker for some?] (for starters, just to turn off?) *Ideas for member access [options, opinions, discussion] (Rachel: Work on this has been speced an is sponsored by HLT, and dev is scheduled for May/June - so should it be in it's own version?'

X.X.X [devel] version * Z39.50 import * MARC import/export [rqst by: ;wbdb: Steve and ?] * MARC front end changes [rqst by: Paul et al; wbdb: Steve and ?] “MARC visible” Confer with Katipo on: * “beta” version of member access change (LDAP?, what?)

X.X.X MARC & templates version * Z39.50 export (experimental) * templating in,

  1. few skins [rqst by:,]
  2. language [rqst by:,(French, Paul?)]
  3. Make Koha mod_perl safe, test with persistent db connections ???

target date:

  1. 5.0 devel

features target: * z39.50 export, look towards MARC XML? * accomodate batch imports and exports of bibliographic records in USMARC/UNIMARC format * Circulation protocol ??? (NCIP?) * “Advanced” MARC features, XML, whatever [OCLC, Library of Congress has early release version of these tools out) [Users list; wbdb:] target date:

As yet unscheduled features Some sort of mechanism for importing/exporting subject header tables [for cross reference] Possibly packaging one or more “stock” subj. header tables with Koha Repository of exported tables for exchange
